Proper operation of fire dampers is critical, directly impacting safety protection during fires. Key operational points are as follows:
Fire Damper Operation
Normally Open Type: Remains open under normal conditions. Automatically closes when temperature reaches 70°C during a fire, blocking smoke propagation paths. Manual closure requires clockwise rotation of the handle; reset requires counterclockwise operation.
Smoke Exhaust Fire Damper: Normally closed; requires remote activation (counterclockwise rotation) by the fire control center during a fire. Automatically melts and closes when temperature reaches 280°C. Manual opening requires counterclockwise rotation; closing requires clockwise rotation.
General Rules for Fire Valves
Rotation Direction: Most fire valves follow the "clockwise to close, counterclockwise to open" principle, consistent with threaded connection standards.
Emergency Operation: Fire hydrant valves open counterclockwise and close clockwise. Ensure proper hose connection maintains normal water pressure.
Precautions
Seal Integrity Testing: Periodically test valve seals to prevent deterioration from prolonged closure.
Interlock Control: Fire dampers must trigger fan shutdown upon closure. Smoke exhaust valves require simultaneous activation of the smoke exhaust system upon opening.
